Born from Tā Āpirana Ngata’s 1926 vision, the New Zealand Māori Arts & Crafts Institute has kept traditional carving, weaving, bone and stone arts alive for nearly a century. We worked alongside the team at Guardians to create assets based on their original Pōito carving.

Our Approach

Using photogrammetry, we captured over 150 images of the original Pōito bone carving to construct a millimetre-accurate 3D mesh, ensuring the integrity of the taonga was honoured throughout the process. This precise digital model enabled us to visualise the carving in bronze, silver, gold, and pounamu finishes with hyper-real detail.
